A few weeks ago, I was walking towards the Opera House on my way to a concert in which the well-known violinist Gil Shaham was to play the Barber Violin Concerto. Ahead of me I observed a man in jeans carrying a violin on his back. I passed him, looked around and was certain enough that this was Gil Shaham to approach him. Yes, he was. “And who are you?” he asked. I introduced myself, said “Shalom”, we shook hands and proceeded to talk in Hebrew – our mutual mother tongue. Amazing how much conversation we manage to pack into that short distance to the Opera House. It was awesome to walk along this world renowned violinist.
Gil stopped suddenly to observe the sky. Venus and Jupiter were in close proximity to a near full moon. All in line with our brilliant Opera House against a crystal clear winter sky. Spectacular, we both agreed!
And for me a beautiful concert was made even more beautiful by this encounter.
