Warringah Australia Remembers

The Choir has been asked to lead the singing at this year’s Warringah Australia Remembers Ceremony, to be held at North Fort at 10.00am on Friday May 26th.

This year, Anita Kyle has kindly agreed to lead us in singing The Royal Anthem, The National Anthem, The Song of Australia, I vow to thee my country, and Land of Hope and Glory.  We will be accompanied by the Manly Silver Band.

Copies of the music are available from Richard Griffiths.  We do not rehearse before the day.  On the day we arrive in good time check out the words of the songs in the programme and to allow the Band’s conductor to let us know about introductions and give us any other instructions.

The ceremony takes place at North Fort on North Head, starting at 10.00am and lasts  around one hour.  Please arrive by 9.30am to allow time for checking out the music.   Afterwards there is a morning tea.

Dress is usual concert dress.  You may also need thermal underwear and/or a dark coat as it can be quite chilly.

To reach North Fort, go up Darley Road beyond the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel, through the stone gateway, taking a left at the roundabout, then turning left at the Bella Vista Cafe.  Stewards will direct you to a parking space from where it is a few minutes walk to the ceremony.

If it is raining, the ceremony takes place in the Mess Hall of the old School of Artillery in the Barracks Precinct on Darley Road.

Thank you very much to the twenty Choir members who have agreed to attend the ceremony.  Anyone else who would like to join us will be very welcome – please talk to Richard Griffiths.
