The Manly Waringah Choir performed on a number of occasions during 2007, all of the performances were different and were thoroughly enjoyed by our audiences.
Our first concert for the year was performed at Cardinal Cerretti Chapel in May was Brahms: a German Requiem. The soloists were Soprano Danielle Murphy Durland and Baritone Corin Bone. Our conductor was Carlos Alvarado and the concertmater was Alexandra Loukianova.
Our concert in August was entitled “Music Across the World” and featured music from various countries. there were two guest presenters, at the first August concert it was guitarist Phillip Bollinger at Freshwater Senior Campus and at the second concert held at Loquat Valley School it was Pianist Paddy Ge, Double Bass Player David Potts with accompanist Bethany Morris. Carlos Alvarado was conducting the choir. The Choir sang an interesting collection of Shakespeare works arranged by George Shearing.
The December Concert at the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel was conducted by Carlos Alvarado with choir and orchestra. The Coriolanus Overture OPus 62 followed by Christmas Oratorio by Saint Saens, the soloists included Danielle Murphy Durland, James Roser, Nicloe Smeulders, Verity Snook and Michael Warby. Two Elegiac Melodies Opus 34, And he shall feed his flock from the Messiah sung by Verity Snook and Nicole Smeulders, Pavane (Gabriel Faure)featuring the choir and orchestra. A number of interesting Christmas Carols were sung and the audience joined in very enthusiastically. A very enjoyable evening!
